RTE is deeply committed to promoting the excellence of French mathematics, inspiring careers in its fields, bridging science and industry with society, and advancing mathematics and science as tools of competitiveness. The three pillars—research, knowledge dissemination, and industry engagement—that underpin the activities of Maison des Mathématiques align closely with the company’s priorities. This is why, as early as November 2015, RTE expressed its support for this project through the Endowment Fund.

RTE is the operator of the French high and extra-high voltage electricity transmission network, the largest in Europe. It plays a key role in directing electricity flows and optimizing the functioning of the electrical system for both its clients and society at large. RTE delivers electricity across the country, from production sites to industrial facilities directly connected to the transmission network, and to distribution networks that link to end consumers. At the heart of the electrical system, RTE is responsible for balancing electricity production and consumption at all times.

RTE innovates and invests in the long term to build the electricity transmission network that serves the economy and the energy needs of tomorrow. Interconnected with its European neighbors, it supports the energy transition by integrating renewable energy and optimizing its contribution through the extensive network grid, from local to European levels. This network, along with the innovative solutions developed, enables flexible, responsive, and efficient management, supporting controlled consumption. Additionally, RTE actively contributes to structuring the electricity market and designs solutions to optimize its use.

The Maison des Mathématiques represents an obvious civic commitment for Vivienne Investissement. It is a remarkable adventure that takes on not only a scientific challenge but, above all, a human one: opening mathematics to the public.

Founded in 2005, Vivienne Investissement is an innovative portfolio management company that applies a scientific and disciplined investment process, leveraging an artificial intelligence–driven approach to financial markets.

“Our ambition is to bring our clients the very best of research. We believe in innovation, which strengthens resilience and constantly enhances our understanding of risks and biases, in order to structure our investment processes. The key idea is to let the data speak, with the aim of understanding the facts.”

The Maison des Mathématiques embodies an obvious civic commitment for Vivienne Investissement. It is an extraordinary journey that embraces not only a scientific challenge but also, and above all, a human one: making mathematics accessible to everyone. By creating a welcoming space for dialogue and exchange between researchers, students, the general public, and businesses, this new venue will foster connections between mathematics and society, and truly integrate scientific culture into the broader cultural landscape.

What matters most to us is this educational and pedagogical mission: to share mathematics with as many people as possible, making this beautiful discipline—universal and serene—accessible to all. Mathematics is truly a school of life. When faced with a problem to solve, one must overcome the stress of the unknown and find the motivation to forge a path toward the solution. They also teach humility and perseverance, as one is constantly confronted with failure. Beyond sharpening the mind and the art of problem-solving, studying mathematics contributes greatly to personal development, an often-overlooked dimension.

It is therefore both our duty and our pleasure to support this wonderful project, which will spread the beauty of mathematics throughout society.

In 2018 and 2021, FDJ United (formerly La Française des Jeux) offered a wide audience lottery and sports betting games designed as recreational and entertaining activities strictly reserved for adult players. From the very design stage, FDJ United ensures compliance with responsible gaming principles: it works with experts and has developed an assessment framework to evaluate the level of safety and sensitivity of its games. The company also supports academic research on gaming in partnership with several universities. In addition, it provides philanthropic support to various associations that assist players in difficulty and backs experimental projects aimed at reducing the risks and harms linked to excessive gambling.

As a result, FDJ United has become a reference point in the European lottery sector. The company maintains an ongoing dialogue with representatives of civil society organizations. In this context, in 2017 it became a partner of Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP), which sought to engage the general public in reflections on chance and mathematics. To this end, a sponsorship agreement was established between  IHP Endowment Fund and La Française des Jeux to define the conditions under which La Française des Jeux would provide financial support and contribute as a patron of the Endowment Fund for the development of the Maison des Mathématiques.

This contribution includes support for the temporary exhibition “Comme par Hasard” (By Chance) created by the IHP in partnership with  Maison des Mathématiques et de l’Informatique in Lyon, where it was first presented, before traveling on to other venues, including the future Maison Poincaré in 2024/2025.
